Other Interests: Will occasionally knit but has never really had any strong hobbies and now finds it very hard to concentrate on anything for long. But she does like to talk about what her family are doing, and the news.
Details:
We are currently caring for our elderly disabled mother in her own home and hope to continue to do so but it is becoming harder for myself and my brother so we're looking for help. It would mainly be companionship and help in keeping the kitchen and mom's living-room/bedroom clean and tidy. Mom has had one leg amputated and has no mobility. We have tried hoists and slideboards but mom isn't comfortable with these so we lift her from bed to commode/chair. We understand that carers aren't allowed to manually lift but either my brother or I will be on hand to do this, but help with keeping mom clean would be appreciated.
Initially we are looking for a couple of hours a day, three days a week to see how this works on both sides.
Mom is very hard of hearing and struggles to hear/understand if you don't speak loudly and clearly so we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and patience.
