How does Home Carers Direct work?

Home Carers Direct provides a quick, simple and effective way for those seeking care to find the ideal person to look after their loved one and for carers to find rewarding work with the right clients. Clients can either place adverts on our site for carers to apply for, or search our database and contact individual members directly.

What do I get for my membership?

When you subscribe to Home Carers Direct you get your very own promotional page where you can detail your history, experience, skills, qualifications, and references along with any photo's so that Clients can really get to see who you are, plus you will appear in our directory so Clients can find and contact you directly. You also gain full access to all the latest jobs which you can apply for with just one click of a button!

I have no experience, can I join?

Unfortunately as we provide a directory of professional and knowledgable carers we are unable to accept carers who do not have any previous experience or have not undertaken a training course that can be verified. We would recommend that anyone looking to embark on a career in the caring profession enrols on a NVQ care program. Once you are qualified we will be happy to consider your membership.

Are you an agency?

No. We do not take commission on the carers earnings which means the rate agreed between client and carer, is exactly what the carer is paid. We beleive that this is a much fairer sytem, ensuring the client does not have to pay expensive agency rates and the carers earn what they are really worth rather than having to get by on low wages.

Will I definitely get work?

Unfortunately we cannot offer a guarantee of work and we make no such claim , however we do our utmost to promote you and provide you with the latest vacancies giving you a far greater chance of success. Not only do our members appear in our directory, plus gain access to the latest job - we also advertise our members on all major search engines to help people find you. So whilst we can't offer guarantees we can get as close as possible! Take a look at our 'Success Stories' to see how many people have gained work from us (some people earn a very good living just off the clients they found through us!)

I am under 18, can I still join?

You must be over the age of 18 to join the site and have relevant qualifications for the positions you apply for and or advertise your services under

How much does it cost?

We have a range of subscriptions starting from as low as 19p per day. These are paid on an automatic recurring basis (through Paypal for your security and peace of mind) and this gives you full access to apply to as many jobs as you like, and to create your own promotional page and let Clients contact you directly. If you are currently working for an agency I'm sure you will appreciate that the higher hourly rates paid by the clients using our site will cover the amount of your subscription very quickly indeed! And remember: we do not take commission from what you earn-it is all yours to keep.

How do I join?

It's quick and easy to join - just fill in your details in the 'Register for Free' box at the top right of the page then follow the instructions - it's very quick and easy and you could have your profile up and start applying for jobs in a matter of minutes!

I've forgotten my login details, what do I do?

Click on 'Forgotten your Password' at the top right hand side of this page and follow the instructions.

Managing your profile

From your account page you can: view and edit your profile at any time, change your account details, add and manage pictures, send and receive mail to other members. Remember - promotion is everything so provide as much info as you can on your profile as you don't know who might be viewing it!

Managing Pictures

You can upload up to 40 pictures for your profile, choose which to be your profile picture, and change them whenever you like. These can be in any of the following standard picture formats - .jpg .gif .png. but must be less than 4mb in size.

How do I find out about jobs?

All current job listings are shown on our website which we suggest you check regularly. We also send a weekly and daily email of the latest jobs so check you have your email settings to ensure you're getting the emails you want. If you are a Premium Member then you will receive job alerts the instant the job goes live on the site, just make sure you have added the locations you wish to cover by going to 'edit locations' under the 'account details'menu. Plus: add us to your safe/friends list to ensure your email provider doesn't put them in your spam/junk folder and you miss the perfect job!

How do I apply for jobs?

We've designed Home Carers Direct to make it very easy and effective for you to apply for jobs. You simply view the job that you are interested in and then fill in the covering letter and click 'Apply for Position'. The Client will automatically receive an email with your covering letter, profile details and link to your profile for them to look at - so make sure you have everything you want on your profile page to sell yourself! You can also keep track of your application from your account menu, and see if the Client has accepted or shortlisted you for the job.

What happens after I've applied for a job?

If the Client likes you they will be in touch via this site.

Do I Need Insurance?

Yes. You will need to have public liability insurance as a self-emplyed carer. There are many companies that provide this type of insurance; a quick search online is all you need to do to locate one.

Can I unsubscribe from Emails?

Of course! Either click on the link at the top of the email to change your email settings, or login to your account and click on 'Email Settings' to change which emails you receive.

Need an Invoice?

If you require an invoice go to 'Account Details' and at the bottom of the page you will be able to see your subscription/payment history and view/email yourself an invoice.

What if I want to cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time by logging into your Paypal account and cancelling the subscription you set up. For full details of this either use Paypal's help facility or click here. Note: This needs to be done at least 24 hours prior to your next payment date. Once cancelled you will still have full access to the site for the remainder of the current payment term and no further payments will be made. We do not offer refunds for failure to cancel in time.

What if I want to delete my profile from this site?

If you decide you no longer want to be on our site email info@homecarersdirect.com with 'Delete' and the email address you registered with in the subject box. Note: once we delete your profile we cannot retrieve it again. If you have an active subscription to Home Carers Direct first cancel that and then once its expired request us to delete your profile.
