About Me:
I am a semi retired businessman, who decided to change careers late in life to become a carer after looking after elderly parents and deciding that not all carers are not considerate, compassionate and understanding.
I spent 3 years co-running a private elderly complex in Wiltshire with my very experienced wife. She taught me everything I know about elderly people and their needs.
I now live in Cardiff with my wife, who is running a larger elderly complex. She suggested I join an upmarket caring agency and look after elderly gentlemen in their own homes(food preparation, bathing, dressing, taking to appointments, shopping and social activities)
We have both decided to change our careers and move into live-in caring work to enable us to live at our holiday home in Gloucestershire.
I have my own transport and am happy to travel within a 100 mile radius of Gloucestershire for work.
I have many hobbies including cycling, walking, gardening, classic cars, history, cooking and antiques.
I am a caring, compassionate, understanding man with a good sense of humour and plenty of patience.

Other Experience:
I was paid for 3 years as caretaker, and general assistant at the independent living complex my wife ran. I also used to take the residents to appointments in my car, collect prescriptions, pick up shopping and help them with many daily tasks as requested.
I lived with and cared for my elderly parents with dementia for 3 years until my father died and my mother had to go into residential care.
I am currently working as a home carer for elderly gentlemen and couples in Cardiff. I work for a company called "Home Instead"
Qualifications
Other Qualifications:
I have completed first aid, manual handling, handling medicines, POVA, food preparation, dementia 1,2 & 3 courses recently. I am still attending courses with my current employer.
I also have a current DBS (December 2016)
I have many other qualifications, but they are not relavent for this type of work.
Interests
Food: I enjoy home cooking, continental food, salads, plenty of vegetables and the occasional takeaway.
Music: I enjoy many types of music, but since meeting my wife 6 years ago I have developed a liking for classical music.
TV: I am interested in drama, natural history,car & racing,thrillers DIY, antiques & most other types of programmes
Films: I enjoy historical,thrillers,drama and autobiographical films.
I also enjoy old war films.
Books: Mainly autobiography, history and thrillers.
Days Out: I enjoy walking in the coutryside, cycling trips with my wife, antiques shows & looking in the antique shops, classic car shows, fine food, country pubs. going to the theatre and cinema.
Other Interests: DIY at home, researching classic cars and history, foreign holidays to interesting places. Spending time at my holiday home in Gloucestershire and improving the home.
